Productive Gardens - what to plant in Autumn
Herbs and veggies can be included in general garden areas, many have attractive flowers and foliage so they look at home in amongst other plants.
We've listed a few edibles to plant in Autumn in Australia's temperate zone:
Vegetables include broccoli, lettuce, onion, leek, broad beans, peas, spinach, silverbeet, spring onion, carrots, globe artichokes and turnip.
Herbs that will flourish at this time of year include coriander, fennel, garlic, lavender, parsley, rocket, sage, rosemary and thyme.
Introduce some good compost to the soil and have the area moist (but not wet), after planting give them a water and add some nutritious straw mulch.
