Kensington Steep Front Yard
Outside Living was invited to create a garden in the steeply sloping front yard of a character home in Kensington.
We designed a garden to break up the slope and introduce colour, texture and contrast to the area – using a variety of materials to create new path and steps, shaped retaining walls and a broad palette of plants to provide an interesting and safe journey up the steep slope.
Materials for retaining include sandstone logs, sandstone blocks, corten steel and gabion stone walls. The paths and stairs are finished with granite pavers – for maximum longevity and slip resistance. Plants were chosen to suit the exposed sloping site, for drought tolerance, soil stability and to add a modern touch to the period home.
We loved working on this project and are so thankful to our clients for allowing us the creative freedom to transform their garden.
